Simply Savvy Focus on: Fall Decor {and Trends}

Fall is my favorite season- the weather, the outdoors, the colors, and the holiday festivities. Now is the time to be thinking about how you will decorate for the season and plan for your holiday gatherings.

I’m excited be to be sharing a round-up of Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving decor ideas with blogging/designer friends Kate from Dabble In Chic and Lynda from Focal Point. Enjoy this “Big Three Before The Tree.”

Let’s begin with Fall Decor! Fall is the time to change decorative accents that can grow throughout the season. Try changing out the pillows, adding in the throw, add color and contrast to neutral palettes, and create a curated space.

Fall Trends

The talk around design this season is all about decor that tells a story and shows your personality in your space. You’re likely seeing the words curated, collected, eclectic, textured, neutral, contrast, graphic, global–all summarize a space that is put together with ease, yet styled with purpose.

Add a touch of global pattern and color to a neutral space by playing with pillows.

You might consider adding knit to your space.

To get a curated, collected, and effortless space gather items that you already have and play with them in groupings.  Then, find items to complete the look. Here’s an example of where I started with my inspiration and then found items that were organic, varied in texture and finishes, and had interest.

Fall Decorating

As I decorate for Fall and the holiday season my goal is simplicity in decor-  elegant, clean, relaxing, and clearly focused.

I turned to Olioboard to create these inspiration boards- see more of Simply Savvy’s boards, here.  Also, visit Simply Savvy’s Fall Decor Pinterest board for more savvy ideas and image credits.

  1. I love the global pattern and knit trend. These items add some much to a home: style, color and texture. I love fall too: the smells, colors and wearing sweaters. Got to love this time coming time of year.

      I am so ready for sweaters! The knit trend is one of the best…a trend that’s cozy and encourages comfort! Thanks for sharing and following our linkup! #Big3B4TheTree

    GREAT post & POINT Julie!! “You’re likely seeing the words curated, collected, eclectic, textured, neutral, contrast, graphic, global–all summarize a space that is put together with ease, yet styled with purpose.” And oh so true too – especially from retailers, bloggers, and in shelter magazines.

    I love how you used Olioboard to demonstrate this point. Pinterest is a great place to “gather & collect”, but using Olio really does help refine & finesse what we put in a space. So happy the Fall season is here – And I’m inspired to simply decorate for Fall!

    Thank you so much for collaborating today on The Big Three Before The Tree! This a wonderful way to “kick-off” the Fall Season (other than with football!!! lol)

      Yes, I don’t know what I’d do without good tools to use! I’m happy to be sharing with the two of you- thank you. While my husband watches football this weekend, I’ll be thinking on decorating for Fall and the holidays.

      Enjoy the day and the sharing! Julie
